Licence and activation

I bought a licence but cannot find it

Check spam and any "promotions" tab in your email. The licence arrives as an attachment called license.json. If it has not arrived, email [email protected] with the address used at checkout and we will resend.

How to import your licence

  1. Open Whistle Enterprise.
  2. Go to Settings > License.
  3. Click "Import License".
  4. Select the license.json file from the email attachment.

Activation is offline. The application does not connect to the internet at any point. Not for activation, not for licensing checks, not for updates.

Adding seats later

Use the top-up form on the pricing page. Upload your existing licence, choose how many seats to add, and we re-issue your licence file with the new total and the same expiry. You only pay for the additional seats, pro-rated against your remaining update window.

Renewing for another year of updates

Buy a fresh licence at the end of your update year to extend the update window. The version you already have keeps working forever; renewal buys access to new releases.

Installation

Windows

Download the .exe installer from the download section. Run it and follow the prompts. Whistle Enterprise supports Windows 11.

Linux

Download the .deb package from the download section. Install it with sudo apt install ./whistle-enterprise.deb (or your usual Debian package tool), then launch Whistle Enterprise from the applications menu.

SmartScreen warning on Windows

Windows SmartScreen sometimes shows a "Windows protected your PC" dialog when you run a new release, until the installer's reputation builds with Microsoft. Click "More info" then "Run anyway" to continue. Whistle Enterprise installers are published by BlazingBanana Ltd.

System requirements

Privacy and local files

Recordings, transcripts and generated documents are kept in a local workspace on your computer. The workspace can be set to a local drive or a network drive in Settings.

To delete a workspace, close Whistle Enterprise and remove the workspace folder from your file manager. Full details in the security notes.
